Massage Therapy

Swedish
Swedish massage is a gentler manipulation of musculature that promotes relaxation, muscles tension relief, increased circulation to muscles, and efficient healing. Swedish massage can help relieve headaches, stress, anxiety, insomnia, and tension. It can also release toxins like lactic acid and other metabolic wastes from the muscles.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage employs techniques focused on relieving severe muscle pain stemming from an injury, illness, or condition. Deep tissue massage helps to release and realign chronically tight, knotted up, or adhesed muscles through deep muscle manipulations. Anyone receiving a deep tissue massage should be aware that muscle ache or soreness for 1-2 days is a normal side affect of deep tissue massage.
Hot Stone Massage Hot Stone massage is a technique which introduces heat to assist in stress reduction, muscle tension relief, and flushing toxins out of the body. The warmed stones are used to perform Swedish massage and Trigger Point therapy, after which other massage techniques may be administered. Stones may also be placed on specific areas of the body to emphasize healing. Hot Stone massage is excellent for anyone who is looking for an effective massage, while still feeling relaxed during and after the massage.
Trigger Point Therapy
What people typically refer to as “knots” are also called trigger points. Trigger points are tightly contracted bands of muscle fibers. These bands can be highly irritable and can cause pain in the area of the trigger point, or it can refer pain to another area of the body. Trigger point therapy focuses on specific trigger points in a muscle through direct pressure and deep muscle manipulation.
Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a massage technique that incorporates light stretching and movement of the fascia within a muscle. Fascia is a sheath of connective tissue surrounding every muscle fiber. Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures. Myofascial release helps to relieve these restrictions and allow the muscle fibers to heal.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is focused mainly to prepare and optimize athletic performance. Sports massage incorporates deep tissue manipulation and active/passive/resistive stretching. Typically a session will be devoted to specific muscle groups used by the athlete. Sports massage can optimize muscular performance, increase efficiency of healing, decrease healing time, and decrease injury.
Prenatal Massage
Depending on the stage of pregnancy, different massage techniques may be used to reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labor outcomes and newborn health. Swedish massage is incorporated to promote relaxation and relieve muscle tension. It has also been shown to increase nutrient absorption to the baby. Manual Lymphatic drainage is a light pressure technique used in prenatal to reduce inflammation and swelling in the legs and feet.
